This Cortijo is located below the village of Yegen, the property is accessed via a track that is easily passable using a 4x4 vehicle. It is a very private spot ideal for anyone who wants peace and quiet, but not too far from the village.
There is a water deposit on the land, which feeds the house and provides water for irrigation. In the recent past much of the land has been cultivated in an eco-friendly manner, the new owners could easily carry this on. The land, terraced in many places is manageable and there is a wide variety of trees, bushes, herbs etc. plus a vegetable plot. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who wants to live fully or semi self-sufficiently.
The property, well built and maintained, is beautifully faced with local stone to fit the surroundings. Outside there are various flat areas and terraces. The main entrance is off a large paved terrace with a pergola, covered with vines, offering welcome shade and somewhere to dine and relax in the summer months.
The main entrance leads into a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area with three sets of double glazed doors on adjacent walls, making the room light and airy. A wood burner is installed. There are terracotta floor tiles and lovely wooden ceilings throughout the property. The kitchen is Alpujarran in style having brick built units with thick wooden worktops and a freestanding cooker. The property is currently set out with one large double bedroom, a large bathroom, toilet and a storeroom. The layout is easily changeable and a second double bedroom could be added in a variety of positions.
Due to the eco-friendly nature of the current owners, the toilet is of the composting type and the grey waste is used on the land. This could be modified with the installation of a septic tank should the new owners wish to do so.
The roof was updated a few years ago.
Included in the sale, one terrace below the cortijo, is a yurt with wood burner, solar has been fitted, there is also a separate toilet. This is ideal for guests or workers helping on the land.
The house is powered by solar and has had extra panels and new batteries added last year. The solar hot water system has a backup gas boiler if needed.
